It seems that I feel I should update once a month... woops! It's just so hard to find the time these days.

The last weekend of September, I went to Yosemite with Dan and his family. We stayed in a very nice cabin. Too much fresh air, hiking kind of hurt my lungs. Driving... I get motion sickness easily, so imagine me stuck at the very back of a big van? Horrible. Overall good trip because I got to spend the weekend with Mr. Dan.
 I turned 26 this year. I shut off all birthday notifications and disabled my facebook wall just to see who remembered my birthday. How mature, right? I just had a bar shindig, courtesy of Nancy and Cecilia! 
 This past weekend, I represented CrossFit Ero, with a bunch of other of my fellow gym members... at CrossFit 310 as they hosted the Barbells 4 Boobs event. We had to do Grace (30 reps of clean and jerks, 135/95). I did do the prescribed weight, but let me tell ya... it HURT. My PR is actually 3:47 but I finished Saturday at 4:09 :( Guess I have to w…

Girls Day

One of the good things about being at CrossFit Ero are the people I work out with. On Saturday, September 14th, I pretty much spent the entire day with people from the gym.

After our little painting session, Jackie, Courtney, Nancy, Cecilia and I decided to hit up bars at Hermosa to get our drink and dance on. It was pretty cool. Turns out, Geoff Stults was there watching the fight... his buddy bought us a round of drinks AND Mr. Stults ended up buying NANCY a drink, chatted her up and danced a bit. No need to believe me! Neon Run, Skydiving & Untz-Untzing!

So, this has to be one of the most memorable weekends I've had in a long while! Here's a quick recap!

Friday, August 23 was the Neon Run! I went with some of the girls at CrossFit Ero!  On Saturday, August 24th was Cecilia's 25th Birthday! And we ended up...


After a long day in Lake Elsinore and shopping around for outfits, we ended up hanging at the bars in Hermosa Beach, she got trashed, grubbed at Denny's and called it a night at 3 am. BEST WEEKEND. EVER.

...and I'm back!

I apologize for the complete lack of updates. I've pretty much plateaued and was in no mood for anything. But let me update you!

I ended up getting free tickets to the CrossFit Games 2013 for the Friday events. Let me tell you, seeing the top elite athletes is so humbling and inspiring. I had the gold access pass so I got to be at the heart of the events.

On August 3rd, I competed in my first Powerlifting Meet. Check out the footage here! I know exactly what I need to work on, and I'm so blessed to have my brother, closest friends, and my Ero family there to support me.

In case you didn't watch the video, I got 3rd place. Ryan, an Ero bro, was SO close and was in 4th place. And that's out of 20+ men! There were maybe 7-8 women who participated. Considering it was my first meet, apparently I have lots to be proud of!

I know it has been a wh ile, but on Saturday, June 1st was CrossFit Ero's 1st Throwdown! There were three WODs: WOD 1: CF Ero Crippler (20 minute time cap) 250m row 50ft overhead lunge 45/25 10 lateral burpees 20 thrusters 75/55 30 over the box jumps 24/20 40 wall ball shots 20/14 30 over the box jumps 24/20 20 thrusters 75/55 10 lateral burpees 50ft overhead lunge 45/25 250m row WOD 2: Ground to Overhead Ladder 1 minute on, 1 minute off to transition Womens: 65-75-85-95-105-115-125-135-145-155 lbs Mens: 115-135-155-175-195-215-235-255-275-295-315 lbs WOD 3 3 minute prowler push 225/155 - max distance then 2 minutes to get 3 attempts at max broad jump Results: WOD 1: 16:10 WOD 2: 155 lbs (check out footage here, my bro recorded me) WOD 3 Prowler: 9.5 WOD 3 Broad Jump: 72" I placed 1st between the women, and Cecilia placed 2nd! Busy badonk!

Hey guys! I know I keep updating less and less. It's really hard to WOD hard with a sprained thumb and trying to PR.  I've had a busy weekend. How are you all doing? Saturday, we did man makers for the first time. We also practiced some gymnastics! It was my first time doing Skin the Cat. I need to trust myself because I'm sure I have the mobility in my body to do a full range of motion for Skin the Cat. Here. Witness my struggle. After my morning WOD and recovery meal, I headed out with my friend Tiffany to the Aloha Festival in Santa Fe Springs. It was hot. And it was great. We ended up going to Nordstrom Rack and Sprouts to satisfy our paleo needs and ended up goofing around a bit. I saw Nancy and Ana at Sprouts so it was cool introducing everyone. Paleo: Interview at CrossFit Ero

So, I was interviewed this weekend about my experience in last year's Paleo Challenge at my gym, CrossFit Ero. We are currently having another paleo challenge and I'm actively participating, but not officially IN the challenge. I haven't been updating much because I'm focusing on healing. I have a sprained thumb, dislocated my knee last week (my coach put it back in place!), and yesterday, I fell and ate it hard at Ross and landed on the knee I dislocated so it's pretty swollen. Although, I did PR on my mile run! 8:56, lol. I haven't had a fast mile since I was in high school. Anyways, here's what was featured on CrossFit Ero's page yesterday!

Sorry for the lack of updates guys! I miss blogging about every WOD but you know... going almost every day is kind of hard. So I'll be posting more of my main points and stuff. Anyways, this past Sunday (4/28/13) some members from Ero and I went on a hike in PV. It was very pleasant. Monday, April 29, 2013 Warm up: 200 rop turns and Ero warm up A: Front Squat 3x12 @65% B: 200m run 5 thrusters 135/95 10 chest to bar 400m run 10 thrusters 20 chest to bar 800m run 15 thrusters 30 chest to bar C: 3x25 abmat sit ups Let me tell you... this WOD killed me. Results A: 125 lbs I am still paranoid about weight on me in the front. But I'm getting better. I actually did this at my 65% so that means progress! I need to keep my knees out and stop having them wiggle back in. I need to strengthen my inner thighs. Sorry for not updating, guys! I've been pretty busy and things are changing on my end. I'm starting to get back into WODing 4-5 times a week. I  hope all of you are doing well! I'll update soon :)

Happy April!

How was your guys' Easter? How did you guys do on 13.4? We only have one more WOD for the Open so let's go hard!

13.4 WOD consisted of:
3 clean & jerks
3 toes to bars
6 clean & jerks
6 toes to bars ...
and increases by 3 each round

Considering I don't practice toes to bar, I set my goal to complete up to 9. I ended up doing a total of 50 reps, so 12 clean & jerks and 2 toes to bar. My wrist/thumb was killing me but I exceeded my expectations!

After yesterday's WOD, I was hanging out with Nancy while she practiced her toes to bar.. she's getting closer! Just gotta be more aggressive. I decided to try doing a kipping pull up.

And I fucking did it.

I did 5! Broken though, lol.

It was the first time in 3 months I was able to do a kipping pull up, and actually a chest to bar kipping pull up! I'm getting stronger, just gotta keep stretching this bad boy out.

I'm in a good mood. So...

RANT: Dear Friend, Good Luck to You.

I hardly go on a rant, but you know when you just need to write or type it out and re-read it later? Yeah. I think that's what I need to do. Sorry for the negative vibes!

CrossFit Open 13.3

I know I skipped my results on the 13.2 WOD. I didn't do well and it pissed me off, lol. I only did 5 rounds + 8 deadlifts or something. I don't even remember. I don't want to. LOL. Anyways, Friday, March 22, 2013... CrossFit Open 13.3 - As many reps as possible in 12 minutes 150 wall balls (20/14) 90 double unders 30 muscle ups No way in hell I was going to complete all of that, lol. I did complete the wall balls in under 9 minutes. I'm not good with double unders so it took me a while to complete 39 lol. I was kind of mad that I didn't do 4-5 in a row so I practiced after the WOD. One of the girls there, Mia, was helping me with my form by keeping my hands closer to my body, jumping up right away instead of sitting on my heels too long, and looking forward. After many failed attempts, I finally did it and I got a new PR at 17 double unders in a row! I was so happy I jumped up and down and fell into the wall. Dairy... WHY?

So, I've officially re-incorporated dairy back into my diet, and you know what... IT SUCKS. I've been breaking out on my chest, and I gained weight so fast. This is ridiculous.

My body really liked being all meat/veggies/fruits/nuts... It's only been 2 weeks and I've been performing bad, I'm sluggish, and I'm not sleeping well.

I didn't realize how bad dairy and some carbs would affect me this much.

I guess it's time to change my 80% paleo lifestyle to 98% (I like Coldstones, ok?!)

Oh, I also noticed I'm not driven to keep updating. Why? I feel lazier, and it sucks. So hopefully the next couple weeks will be better...

But tonight... CrossFit Open 13.2.

Can't wait.

CrossFit Games Open 13.1

Taken directly off the CrossFit Games website... at Ero, we had this scheduled on Friday, March 8, 2013. Our warm up included 200 rope turns, and to prep for this, we practiced our snatches.

WOMEN - includes Masters Women up to 54 years old Proceed through the sequence below completing as many reps as possible in 17 minutes of:
40 Burpees
45 pound Snatch, 30 reps
30 Burpees
75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
20 Burpees
100 pound Snatch, 30 reps
10 burpees
120 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible

I ended up doing 142 reps at the prescribed weight. I think if I had eaten better during the week and TOM was not in town, I would have had more energy to do more. Although I had all day to mentally prepare for it.

So, with all the scores submitted, I am 1002nd! LOL. I just need to remember to push myself and not take this too seriously. It's just an idea of how live competition would be.

Speaking of, who's going to NLI at CSULB in April?!

Slow Progress is Progress.

How are you all doing? I'm still recovering from the flu/cold I had last week. All I have left now is a light cough, which is bad right when I first get up in the morning. Almost there! Being off for a week from WODing really took a toll on me. Feeling weak and like I'm not doing anything probably made me feel worse. But, I guess I just really needed the rest. On Saturday night, Nancy and I headed out to Mai Tai out in Long Beach for a fellow crossfitter's birthday. Not many pictures were taken that night, but here's my outfit anyway. I need color in my life apparently (even my brother told me) so on Sunday, I hung out with Nancy and Ana and we headed to the mall and I picked myself up a couple of new bright pieces. I'll upload a pic whenever I decide to wear it, lol. Steven and I were supposed to wake up early on Sunday to go get some pancakes from Original Pancake House, which is our usual Sunday routine every couple weeks or so. We didn't wake up on time, …

Influenza finally got me. I've been sick for over a week and it sucks. I finally went back to work yesterday and I finally went to WOD! It nearly killed me.

Anyways, lots of new things are happening, rather exciting at that... well... maybe to just me it's exciting... but I'll let you know as soon as things are settled. No, I'm not engaged, pregnant, or moving out! I'm still dating the same knucklehead, Dan and I still enjoy living at home! LOL.

Busy Week!

I hope you all had a good week last week! I'm not one to go all out for Valentines' Day, cuz face it... you should show your love every day, not just because it's a Hallmark Holiday. Although their cards are pretty cute, lol. I received my first Edible Arrangements from a good friend. Needless to say, the chocolate covered strawberries were devoured first. On the 14th, I went over to Dan's area and we decided to have dinner at our favorite Italian place called Aruffo's in Claremont. His gift to me? Shaving his beard off! :) Look at that handsome face.
